FBA Chicago Celebrates August as YLD Month

This coming August, the Federal Bar Association Chicago Chapter celebrates our Younger Lawyers’ Division. (Attorneys under 40 or in their first 10 years of practice are automatically included in the Division when they join the FBA.)

The Division is a dynamic group of younger lawyers that organizes interesting events throughout the year. This August, the Division kicks-off its signature month featuring:

  • August 29 Mentoring Program for area law students in partnership with the Chicago Chapter’s Law Students’ Division

The Division is also planning a “Meet the Judges” event in October, where younger lawyers will enjoy the opportunity to meet sitting Northern District of Illinois judges.

Feel free to join us for our upcoming events. Register via the links above—Division events usually sell out. And reach out to the Division Co-Chairs if you are interested in joining the Division’s planning and organizing committee.

Over the past year, the Division has hosted panel events where younger lawyers heard from judges and experienced lawyers on topics of interest including: careers in federal government, pro bono opportunities in federal court, writing effectively in federal court, advocacy in federal court, and the basics of immigration law.

The Division also hosts social events, including happy hours, walking tours of legal buildings in downtown Chicago, and various networking opportunities with experienced lawyers and judges. The Division has volunteered with Chicago Legal Prep High School, along with other members of the Chicago Chapter, teaching a high school class about the philosophy of the law.
