The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin recently covered President Mark Furlane’s initiatives to expand the Chapter’s membership beyond litigators and offer benefits and programming for those who are not in the courtroom.
While the chapter will continue to offer programs on topics of interest to litigators, he said, it also will reach out to lawyers whose practices don’t involve frequent trips to the courtroom.
For example, the group established its Corporate and Association Counsel Committee to make the chapter more relevant to in-house counsel.
The chapter also will expand its efforts to attract law school students and younger lawyers. And it plans to continue encouraging judges to join and take part in programs, he said.
